Prioritization, Traditions, and a Free Gift Guide For Christmas!

As we dive into the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s easy to feel like we’re just trying to keep our heads above water. With work deadlines, family gatherings, and personal commitments all vying for our attention, how do we stay focused and joyful during these busy weeks?

Fear not—we’ve got some tips to help you navigate this time of year with clarity and joy.

Prioritize What Really Matters

Let’s start with tackling those seemingly endless to-do lists. During the holidays, everything can seem urgent, but it’s crucial to discern what truly deserves your attention. Instead of beginning with what you have to do, flip the approach by thinking about what you can afford to skip. This simple twist can illuminate your actual priorities.

Understanding that not everything on your list is equally important is a vital lesson in strategic thinking. Focus on identifying one or two key tasks each week that will move the needle. For example:

  • Filing End of Year Reports

  • Getting those relationship building holiday messages and gifts delivered

  • Locking in the 2025 Annual Plan to hit the ground running Jan 2

Even if those tasks are as mundane as filing paperwork, if they are important, they merit your attention. Developing the ability to prioritize effectively is a learnable skill that will serve you well beyond the holiday season.

Lean into Family Traditions

Work isn’t the only arena where prioritization is important. Embracing family traditions can provide a comforting sense of continuity and joy during the holiday season. Traditions are the memories that bind us.

We kick off the season with a pot of Moose Stew, simmering on the stove while we decorate the tree, a meal I make only once a year. Yes, it actually calls for moose meat. The closest I have ever gotten was elk. If you can ethically source me some moose, hit me up!

At our house that looks like Family Movie night every Sunday until Christmas. Our family must watch list includes Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Rudolph (the classic claymation version of course!) and Klaus.

Traditions are the memories that bind us.

The key is to consciously choose what matters most to your family and make those moments a non-negotiable part of your holiday schedule. These traditions don’t have to be elaborate; what matters is the connection and joy they bring.
